We love golfing. But, as we’re sure you know, it can be tough to find the time to go out to the range and play a full game.

Thankfully, we live in a world where golf simulator manufacturers like SkyTrak are continually pumping out new iterations to their hardware and software. With one of these simulators, you can enjoy the sport from the comfort of your own home, anytime you want, alone or with friends.

You’re missing out if you’re never tried playing 3D golf in one of these machines because they offer stunning accuracy and are a great way to hone your skills [1]. As technology has advanced, the prices of these  indoor golf simulators have dropped dramatically. What was once a $20,000 minimum investment can now be set-up for well under $10,000, depending on what model you decide to buy.

If you decide to spring for one of these simulators, you’ll have to get some simulation software to pair with it. However, it can be hard to figure out which is the best golf simulator software to use with your set-up, as there are so many out there, all offering their own competing features. We can help you cut through the weeds and find the best software for your needs.

Top 6 Best Golf Simulator Software Reviews

1. TGC 2019: Best Overall Golf Simulator Software

Product Specifications and Features

  • Over 170,000 courses with included real-world options
  • Graphics resolution goes up to 4k Ultra HD
  • Requires PC
  • Minimum 4GB Ram and NVidia GTX 670 or equivalent
  • Real-life physics engine
  • One-time payment for lifetime access
User Friendly

TGC 2019 is the single best golf simulator software for SkyTrak TGC 2019 and other golf simulator set-ups.

This is the third in the TGC series, and it’s clear that its developers have learned lessons from their past. Of particular note is the presence of a PGA-licensed tour mode that was conspicuously absent in the past. It also features an upgraded character creator with an array of customization options that include real-life branded merchandise.

But where this simulation truly excels is in golf. It has in-depth swing mechanics that emphasize tempo and immersive physics-based ball motion that can account for wind and terrain.

There are many courses to play with because the game comes bundled with 6 real-world courses [2]. Although it includes heavy-hitters like TPC Sawgrass and TPC Scottsdale, it also misses some famous courses like Augusta National and St. Andrews. [3]

The selection it does have is solid and fun to experience through its fully-featured career mode. This mode is surprisingly deep with a series of tournaments, commentators, and progression through unlocked outfits and sponsorships.

What makes this software truly shine is the course creator where players can create their own golf courses and share them online. This has resulted in a massive library of over 100,000 user-created courses for you to peruse. You won’t be getting bored with this simulator any time soon.

2. Uneekor View Refine Succeed: Best Overall Golf Simulator Software Runner-Up

Product Specifications and Features

  • EYE XO View Package: Uneekor Optix, fitting data, 3D driving range, swing motion analysis
  • EYE XO View + TGC 2019: Everything in View, plus over 100,000 user-designed courses
  • EYE XO View + Refine Package: Everything in View + TCG 2019, plus 5 golf courses playable with up to 6 players, on-course practice mode, short game training module, and choice of driving range setting
  • EYE XO View + Succeed Package: Everything in View and Refine, plus 20 golf courses playable with up to 6 players
  • Requires PC
  • Minimum GeforceGTX 1060 and 8GB RAM
User Friendly

It’s unfortunate that this software only comes bundled with Uneekor simulators because it’s a fantastic game that anyone who likes golf can enjoy.

Once you boot it up, you’ll be presented with 5 different modes for you to experiment with. The driving range is excellent for practicing your swings and has variations for putting and approach.

Stroke play [4] lets you play with up to 6 players on a single course. Other modes include short game complex, course practice, and QED challenge, all of which are compatible with multiple players.

It also comes with Uneekor’s proprietary Optix system, which allows you to review club impact and ball spin, as well as analyze the motion of your swing. With it, you can refine your technique and improve your game while you play.

We found the only complaint with this model is that the standard EYE XO View software does not give you courses, despite what you pay for a full simulator set-up. We recommend jumping for the most expensive bundle because it has 20 courses, a significant leap up from the cheaper package’s 6.

What We Like:

  • Lots of different ways to play with friends
  • Modes allow for focused training for driving, putting, and chipping

3. ProTee Play: Best Value Golf Simulator Software

Product Specifications and Features

  • No courses
  • Wide selection of golf-related skill games like zombie killing and darts
  • UHD 4K resolution
  • Real-life golf physics
  • Touch-screen friendly
  • Requires PC and internet connection
  • Minimum NVidia GTX 670 or AMD 7850 and 4GB RAM
User Friendly

This affordably priced golf software package is one that’s not quite like any other simulator. You’ll notice that it runs in your web browser, meaning there’s no tricky installation to worry about. The second thing you’ll see is that it doesn’t offer traditional courses.

No, it does something unique and instead offers a wide variety of games. These games take golf and twist it into a video game-like format. For instance, you might have to fend off zombies with well-placed golf shots, knock down a bunch of pins in a bowling alley, or play darts with your ball.

Altogether, there are dozens of different games that span a vast array of settings. You won’t be pressed for variety, and the online leaderboards mean that you can compete forever. These games are particularly great for helping kids learn golf since the games appeal to them while still requiring skill in dealing with its realistic golf physics. Even for adults, it’s a great way to get some golf-adjacent fun.

The only problem is that it’s not at all trying to be a real golf simulator. It offers no traditional courses or game modes and instead relies entirely on its game library’s novelty and depth. Its game library is deep, so this isn’t a huge problem, but it’s probably not for you if you’re looking for an authentic simulated experience.

What We Like:

  • A unique and innovative take on golf simulating
  • Perfect for helping kids learn golf
  • Online leaderboards offer infinite replay value

What We Don’t Like:

  • Does not offer an authentic golfing experience

4. E6 Connect: Best Bundled Golf Simulator Software

Product Specifications and Features

  • Expanded Subscription: 90 courses
  • Standard Subscription: 27 courses (PC), 15 courses (iOS)
  • 4k-compatible graphics
  • LiDAR-mapped courses
  • Enhanced physics
  • Local multiplayer
  • Minimum Nvidia 1070 and 8GB RAM
User Friendly

E6 Connect is a proprietary piece of software that does it all. Its expanded package features 90 courses, all created with radar mapping technology to be as accurate and lifelike as possible.

You won’t have to be alone either, as the simulator supports local and online multiplayer. Whether you have friends over or are by yourself, you can still play an authentic round of golf. The multiplayer mode is cross-platform, so the total player population will be healthy regardless of what system you’re playing on.

It also comes paired with the clubhouse web tool. With this, you can manage and distribute content, measure key performance indicators, and, most importantly, create local tournaments and golf leagues.

You’ll find that you can select different tee boxes and boosts per golfer on the virtual green, which is a neat bit of customization that we haven’t seen elsewhere. It’s further possible to adjust the time of day so you can practice golfing under different conditions.

Outside of golf, you’ll have access to a set of minigames that include blackout, darts, longest drive, and closest to the pin.

If you want a fully-featured golf simulator, you can’t go wrong with the E6 Connect.

What We Like:

  • Cross-platform online and local multiplayer
  • Can select different tee boxes and boosts per golfer
  • Clubhouse tool makes creating local tournaments and leagues easy

What We Don’t Like:

  • Graphics could be better

5. OptiShot2: Best Bundled Golf Simulator Software Runner Up

  • Standard: 15 Courses
  • Season Pass: 60+ Courses
  • Track and analyze swing

  • USB connection
  • Driving range included
  • Minimum 256MB available adapter RAM with OpenGL 2.0, the latest video drivers, and 4GB RAM

This is yet another great piece of software that comes bundled with the best budget golf simulator. What stands out for the Optishot2 is that the full golf simulator it comes with is also very affordably priced, meaning you don’t have to empty your wallet to get set up.

It all works right out of the box with no need to pay any extra software fees like some other choices. However, if you want the full 60-course selection, you either have to spring for a season pass subscription or buy them individually.

Thankfully these courses are well worth it. They are all “To-The-Tee” replicas that accurately capture world-renowned and incredibly exclusive golf courses from around the world. Unfortunately, the graphics are a bit dated, which can get in the way of truly being immersed in the setting.

This set-up is also uniquely compatible with different housing situations. You can choose to use any clubs you want, and the balls are optional. That means you can play just swinging at air or plastic balls, so you don’t need to put up a full net.

Another standout feature is the online tournaments that you can participate in. These are professionally organized competitions with small prize pools. They make this package perfect for fans of golf who want a more structured environment.

What We Like:

  • Wide variety of club and ball options
  • Affordable price point
  • Online tournaments with a prize pool

What We Don’t Like:

  • Season pass membership required for full course selection

6. FSX 2020: Best 2020 Golf Simulator Software

Product Specifications and Features

  • Include 5 courses
  • Driving range mode
  • Access to Foresight Sports’ online network
  • Club fitting software
  • Skills challenges such as long drive and closest to the pin competitions
  • Minimum NVidia GeForce 1060 and 8GB RAM
User Friendly

This is the newest piece of software on the list, and it shows it too, with its polish and industry-standard features like online multiplayer and a beautiful 4K resolution.

Another highlight is that you can adjust green speed, firmness, and a host of other game elements, including real-time weather conditions.

Where FSX 2020 is strongest is in its full suite of analysis tools. The simulator it pairs with features head motion tracking and exceptional tracking cameras so that you can get a wide range of data.

This comprehensive performance analysis features a full spectrum of ball launch data and data analysis and visualization features tailored to professional club fitters and golf instructors. There’s even an FSX Live feature that lets you store historical data to review for growth while pinpointing areas for improvement.

There are also variations on the standard golf game, with 2 skills challenges, closest to the pin and long drive, that you can compete in online.

The only area where this softwares in its course selection. It offers only 5 courses with options to buy just a few more. lags behind competitors i This lack of variety is sorely missed.

What We Like:

  • Club fitting software included
  • Endless setting customization
  • Comprehensive performance analysis

What We Don’t Like:

  • Small course selection

There are many good golf simulator software packages  out there. Compared to its competitors, TGC 2019 is in a completely different league.

The main thing that differentiates it is the course creator and community course catalog. There are over 170,000 courses, and new ones are made all the time, meaning you have functionally infinite content. These are in addition to the 6 real-world courses that the product comes packaged with.

There’s also a lot of depth to the game. It features several different modes ranging from online play to its fully-featured PGA Tour mode. You can create a character from scratch and go on tour, winning sponsorships and more customization options. This adds a welcome layer of depth beyond just playing golf.

Of course, it doesn’t skimp on the golf mechanics. The swing mechanics emphasize tempo, and the immersive physics-based ball motion accounts for both wind and terrain.

This software packs in high-quality golf play, lots of metagaming elements for total immersion, and a huge catalog that you’re not likely to even come close to exhausting.
